Independence Hall in Philadelphia is regarded as the birthplace of the United States: the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were debated and signed here. The building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It stands on Chestnut Street (No. 520) and is part of Independence National Historical Park.

You can see the interior only on a guided tour. Timed tickets are required, and you should reserve them in advance through Recreation.gov (as of October 2026). Tours start every 20 minutes and are limited to 60 people. Arrive about 30 minutes before your tour for the security screening on 5th Street. According to the park service, there is also a no-ticket period at certain times in the morning; the exact times change, so check beforehand. The Liberty Bell Center and the Independence Visitor Center are nearby. Allow half a day for the tour and the surrounding area.
