Flydalsjuvet

Geiranger, Norway

Views

A rocky ledge above a steep gorge with a wide view over the Geirangerfjord, reached by a short walk from the car park on the road to Geiranger. Go in the morning for softer light and stay behind the barriers.

The Flydalsjuvet viewpoint is about 4 km from Geiranger on Road 63 towards Grotli. From here you look out over Geiranger and the Geirangerfjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The platform was redesigned as part of the Norwegian Scenic Routes and is known as the spot of some of Norway's best-known travel photographs.

There is a car park, which can fill up quickly in high season, so arrive early in the morning. Most visitors stay 30 to 60 minutes and explore the upper and lower platforms, which are linked by a walkway. The toilets are open from mid-May to mid-October (as of October 2026); emptying motorhome waste is not permitted here. Stay behind the barriers, as the edge drops away steeply.
