Cascada de Sorrosal

Broto, Spain

Nature

A waterfall dropping into a wooded gorge just outside Broto, at the foot of the Ordesa area. A short, signed path from the village reaches the viewpoints; it is best after rain or snowmelt.

The Río Sorrosal rises at 1,478 m in the Soaso valley, flows through Linás de Broto and joins the Ara after about 13 km. In its lower section it plunges roughly 60 m vertically. The cascade lies just under 400 m from the centre of Broto and is reached by a paved path. The village is close to Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park.

The short walk from the village takes a few minutes, and about an hour is enough with time at the viewpoints. In summer the waterfall is lit up in the evening. There is also a via ferrata along the gorge. The river is a torrent that carries a lot of water at the spring snowmelt, so the flow depends on the season. If you can, visit after rain or during the snowmelt.
