Planning
The Pyrenees run nearly 500 km along the border of France and Spain, with Andorra in the eastern part. The highest peak is the Aneto at 3,404 m, in Huesca, Spain. Major protected areas include the Pyrénées National Park in France and Ordesa y Monte Perdido and Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici in Spain. UNESCO inscribed parts of the range in 1997. Rules differ by country, so plan each section separately.
Camping
In the core zone of the French Pyrenees National Park, camping in a vehicle or any shelter is prohibited, so motorhomes may not stay overnight there. Bivouac in a low tent is allowed only between 19:00 and 09:00, more than an hour's walk from roads open to vehicles or in marked bivouac zones. Andorra bans motorhome overnight stays outside designated areas, and enforcement has been reported since 2026. Use campsites and ask the park administration.
