Peričnik Waterfall

A two-tier waterfall in the Vrata valley in Triglav National Park, where a short path leads behind the upper cascade. The rock is slippery when wet, so wear shoes with grip and bring a rain jacket for the spray.
The Peričnik Falls lie in Triglav National Park above Mojstrana, in the upper Vrata Valley. There is an upper fall 15.37 metres high and a lower one 49.13 metres high, according to measurements in 2018/19; older guidebooks give 16 and 52 metres. A rock overhang lets you walk behind the curtain of the lower fall, which makes it one of the most photographed sights in the Julian Alps.
The falls were made accessible in 1895, when Jakob Aljaž cleared storm debris from the stream and built the first footpath. The maintained path is regarded as the safest route to the falls. The rock is slippery when wet, so wear shoes with good grip and a rain jacket against the spray.
