Daphni Monastery

An 11th-century Byzantine monastery in Chaidari, about 11 km northwest of Athens on the ancient Sacred Way to Eleusis, listed by UNESCO. Its gold-ground mosaics around 1100, including the Christ Pantocrator in the dome, are the reason to come.
