A small walled town in the vineyards east of Verona, with a medieval castle on the hill above and crenellated walls enclosing the old streets. Walk the lanes, climb to the castle and taste the local white wine in a cellar.

Soave, in the province of Verona, is enclosed by a town wall built in 1369 under Cansignorio della Scala, about 1.6 km long and with 24 towers. Three gates originally gave access: Porta Aquila, Porta Vicentina and Porta Verona. Above the town stands the Castello Scaligero, where a document of 934 already records a castle. The Scaligeri and the Venetians rebuilt it. It consists of three courtyards around a central keep.

In the old centre you will find, among others, the Palazzo di Giustizia, the Palazzo del Capitano and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. About two hours is enough for the old town. Soave wine is known far beyond the region. The grape festival takes place on the third weekend of September. There is a motorhome parking area on Via Mere.
