A slender stone arch bridge in Kromlau park whose reflection in the still pond forms a full circle. Come at dawn or on a calm day for the mirror effect, and note the bridge itself is closed to walkers.

The Rakotz Bridge stands in the Kromlau Azalea and Rhododendron Park, regarded as the largest rhododendron park in Germany, covering around 200 hectares. The bridge was built in the 19th century, from the 1860s onwards according to the sources available, and spans the Rakotzsee lake in a semicircular arch supported by basalt columns. When the arch is reflected in the water, it looks like a perfect circle.

The effect works best in fine weather and when there is no wind at all. The bridge itself may not be crossed, but it can be admired well from the lakeshore. Allow about 30 to 40 minutes for the circular path around the lake, and correspondingly longer for the whole park. Entry to the park is free, and there is a visitor car park.
