A small town on a terrace above the Sava with a tidy medieval square and a beekeeping museum, with the Julian Alps beyond. Walk to the edge of the terrace for the view and taste local honey in town.

Radovljica lies on a terrace above the Sava near Bled and bears the nickname “the sweetest town in Slovenia”. It is also said to be particularly sunny for the Gorenjska region. Its centre is Linhart Square (Linhartov trg), which the tourist board describes as one of the most beautiful old town centres in Slovenia; museums, restaurants and preserved historic houses stand here. The 18th-century Radovljica Manor dominates the square, and on the main street the Art Nouveau building known as “Čebelica” (“Little Bee”) stands out with its bee-decorated entrance.

The Beekeeping Museum is devoted to the Carniolan bee and to Slovene beekeeping traditions. A baroque park also adjoins the old town. Walk to the edge of the terrace to enjoy the view of the Julian Alps, and try the local honey. The Chocolate Festival takes place in April, and the Radovljica Festival of classical music in summer.
