A forested plateau of small lakes, rocky ridges and marked trails less than an hour from Helsinki. The Haukkalampi area has good loops, and you can bring a sausage to grill at the fire sites; take bug spray in summer.

Nuuksio National Park was established in 1994 and lies in Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Vihti, less than 30 km from Helsinki. It covers 53 square kilometres with about thirty lakes, valleys and gorges from the last Ice Age; the highest point is 110 m. The park's emblem is the Siberian flying squirrel. There are eight marked hiking trails between 1.5 and 17 km long.

Four marked nature trails of 2 to 7.5 km start at the Haukkalampi hut. The park has twelve free tent sites, nine of them with a fire ring and dry toilet. The Haltia nature centre, opened in 2013, has exhibitions on Finnish nature. Allow two to four hours for a walk. You can reach the park by public bus from Espoon keskus; check the current timetable beforehand.
