A granite village in Finistère built around a cobbled square with a well, a church and Renaissance houses, often used as a film set. It is quiet in the evening after the day visitors leave.

Locronan was granted town status by Anne of Brittany in 1505 and has been a protected monument since 1924. The village carries the "Petite Cité de Caractère" label and is one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France". Fourteen grey granite houses, former merchants' homes of the 17th and 18th centuries, surround the church square. The Gothic church of Saint-Ronan was built between 1424 and 1480 and has a 30 m tower; beside it stands the Chapelle du Pénity with the tomb figure of Saint Ronan.

The Troménie, a procession in honour of the saint, is special: the Petite Troménie (6 km) takes place every year on the second Sunday in July, the Grande Troménie (12 km) every six years, most recently in July 2025. Since 1920 more than 30 films have been shot in the village, including Roman Polanski's "Tess" (1979). The tourist office offers guided tours.
