The Lagunas de Ruidera are a chain of 15 small lakes in the valley of the upper Guadiana. The chain stretches for 20 km from south-east to north-west. The lakes are linked by waterfalls and small streams. The natural park was created in 1979, covers about 38 km² and lies in the region of Castilla-La Mancha. It touches five municipalities, including Ruidera and Argamasilla de Alba. Nearby is the Cueva de Montesinos, which features in “Don Quixote”.
