A fortified town castle with a museum of furnished rooms and a Renaissance courtyard, set at the edge of the old centre below the Tatras. Combine it with the wooden Articular Church, a short walk away.

King Matthias Corvinus had Kežmarok Castle built in 1461 by István Zápolya; by 1465 it was already in operation. Under the Thököly family the Gothic fortress became a Renaissance residence whose defences were gradually dismantled. The town bought the castle in 1702. In 1931 the first museum exhibition opened in one of the towers.

The courtyard is freely accessible, while the rooms can be visited on guided tours. Allow one to one and a half hours. The visit combines well with the wooden Articular Church of 1717 in the town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The old town is small; park on the edge and walk.
