A large formal garden straddling the US-Canada border, with flower beds, a floral clock and a peace tower in the Turtle Mountains. Carry photo ID or a passport, as border rules apply and checks are possible on leaving.

The International Peace Garden opened on July 14, 1932, and covers about 9.5 km² (3.65 square miles) on the border between the United States and Canada. It lies near the center of the Turtle Mountain plateau, whose climate and vegetation differ noticeably from the surrounding prairie. Highlights include a floral clock about 5.5 m (18 ft) across, a peace chapel inscribed with quotations about peace, and a memorial incorporating remains of the World Trade Center. The former 37 m (120 ft) twin towers were demolished in 2017.

The flower beds are at their best in summer. When leaving the park, visitors must go through the immigration procedures of their destination country, even when returning to the country they started in. Bring a passport or other photo ID, and check the current border rules before you go. Allow two to three hours.
