A museum in a restored depot that tells the story of the Mississippi Delta, from its music and the blues to farming and river life. Pair it with a walk along Cherry Street and a look at the levee.

The Delta Cultural Center in Helena is part of the Arkansas Heritage agency and opened in 1990, initially in the train depot. Today it consists of several buildings: the 1912 Helena Depot, a former Union Pacific station listed on the National Register of Historic Places; a visitor center; and the Moore-Hornor House of 1859, which is currently being renovated (as of October 2026). The permanent exhibits cover, among other things, the history of the Arkansas Delta and the Civil War in the region.

In the visitor center you will find the "Delta Sounds" exhibit on the music of the Delta (blues, gospel, country, rockabilly) and the studio of "King Biscuit Time," which the museum describes as the longest-running daily blues radio show in the country. Allow about one to two hours. The museum is in downtown Helena; check opening hours in advance.
