A small lakeside village on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, with a pier, boat trips to the islands and a short climb up Conic Hill for wide views. Come on a weekday in summer, as the car park fills up at weekends.

Balmaha lies on the east shore of Loch Lomond in the Stirling council area, at the foot of Conic Hill. It is a popular day-trip destination from Glasgow and lies about 30 kilometres along the West Highland Way from Milngavie. The Gaelic name derives from Bealach Mo-Cha and means "pass of St Mo-Cha"; this refers to Saint Kentigerna, patron saint of the parish, who is commemorated on Inchcailloch. The climate is oceanic with plenty of rain, so pack waterproof clothing.

From the harbour, boats run to the island of Inchcailloch and on trips around the loch; the ferry service is operated by the boatyard Macfarlane and Son, which has existed for more than 150 years. Conic Hill is 361 metres high and lies on the Highland Boundary Fault. From the summit the view stretches across Loch Lomond. Allow a few hours for the ascent.
