A marine science centre on Resurrection Bay that cares for rescued animals and shows sea lions, puffins and seals up close. Pair it with a walk along the Seward waterfront, and book ahead in peak summer.

The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward opened in May 1998 and describes itself as Alaska's only permanent marine mammal rehabilitation facility. The project cost about 55 million US dollars, of which 37.5 million came from the Exxon Valdez oil spill settlement. It combines a public aquarium and a research facility under one roof, and it was accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums in September 2011.

Research focuses on Steller sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals and eiders, among others. Across 115,000 square feet (10,700 m²) you will find harbor seals, sea lions, octopuses and, since 2016, the underwater viewing area Nose 2 Nose. Injured and orphaned marine animals are cared for here. Allow two to three hours and combine the visit with a walk along the waterfront.
