## Route description

Start at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, reached from US-89 north of Kanab. Children love sliding down the soft dunes, and the campground has spots for RVs. Sand Dunes Road leads back to the highway near Moqui Cave, a quirky roadside museum inside a sandstone cave.

Kanab, often called Little Hollywood for the Westerns filmed nearby, is a good base with services and campgrounds. East of town, US-89 skirts the southern edge of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Stop at the Toadstool Hoodoos trailhead for an easy walk to balanced rocks on white pillars. Near Big Water, the monument’s visitor center displays fossils of dinosaurs and marine reptiles found in the area.

The road then crosses into Arizona at Glen Canyon Dam and reaches Page, on the shore of Lake Powell. End at Horseshoe Bend, just south of town, where the Colorado River loops beneath a sheer cliff. The trail is short but shadeless; go early or near sunset.
