## Before you go

- Much of the west side is single-track road. Use passing places and let others overtake.
- Drive on the left. Fuel stations are far apart in the northwest.
- Midges are fierce from June to August. Pack repellent.

## Which direction?

Anticlockwise saves the dramatic west coast for later and keeps the sea on your side for much of the drive, but either way works.

## FAQs

**Is the NC500 suitable for large motorhomes?**
The main loop is manageable with care, but skip the Bealach na Bà road to Applecross in anything large. Sections of single-track road need patience.
